“Astonishing. Has the quality of a dream… incredibly beautiful and serene”

The Observer

“Inspired, atmospheric staging and dazzling performances… Dancers scamper in blithe defiance of gravity”

Financial Times

In Apuleius’ Metamorphosis Psyche is allowed to meet her lover, Cupid, only in the dark. In three nocturnal encounters they circle each other in the dreamlike shelter of darkness – but ultimately have to face the light – and each other.

Cupid and Psyche is the second part of Kim Brandstrups trilogy of dance works inspired by greek myths, commissioned by Deborah Warner for Ustinov Studio at Bath’s Theatre Royal. The trilogy’s other parts are Minotaur and Echo and Narcissus.
